Seven years ago today, I moved to Florida. 16 hours straight-through from Indiana to Tampa Bay. I had a childhood dream to chase, only a day after reaching another one (graduating from Purdue University). Although the last 7 years have taught me so much (mostly through lessons learned the hard way), this dream of mine still feels like a dream. I fall in love with this place more each day. And this past year has been my most impressive year to-date. I started my photography business 7/1/2018, was a nominee for “Teacher of the Year” in my school-district (my career means so much to me), and receive a lot of recognition for my photography through news-outlets and businesses (my favorite all time being @realsaltlife and @saltlifetampa)! I cannot tell you how often I thank and count my lucky stars. I am grateful forever-and-always to God/Jesus, my family/loved ones, and those that have truly been through the most trying of times with me throughout my life. The Bible says the seventh year is the most fruitful, and I cannot wait to see the amazing things God has planned for me this seventh-year in Florida. Just like this feature of my photo from Salt Life says: “It Was Love At First Sight The Day I Saw The Sea”...I couldn’t agree more! God is amazing!

Before I go to bed and start this week, I want to thank my Mom for her love towards me. I have never been the easiest person to love, but she loves me unconditionally. Thank you, Mom, for your smile, listening-ear, and advice. I have lived in Florida SEVEN YEARS this Tuesday (5/14), and this picture is from Mother’s Day on 5/13/2012. This was the day before moving to Florida, as you know. Thank you for the support you gave and continue to give me as I find my way. Let’s take a picture this Summer when I am home to visit. I’ll look just like this after losing 75-85lbs. since 12/2018. By the way, I hope your retirement is amazing. I know it has only been the third day, but I hope that alarm being off has been a blessing. Virtual hugs and kisses until I see you in ten weeks! I love you so much!

To end the week, I have a lot to be grateful for, especially my career. After Teacher Appreciation Week each year, I count my blessings even more, and especially this year. This has been the most special year so far in my career. Being nominated “Teacher of the Year” for my school/district will be something I’ll never forget. My personal life has changed back to where it should be after 6-7 years of complacency and interpersonal demons, and although I have battled every personal-fight possible, I do it for God/Jesus, myself, and those I truly love. This picture is a hand-written card from one of my students (800 total; 600 I teach weekly). No matter the gift cards and/or recognition I receive, these hand-written cards mean everything to me. Even though my demeanor has not been what it usually is the last few months because of changes to my life/remorse of mistakes I have made since January 2019 (and previously; dated back to July 2012), I am grateful I am loved. But the students and their families know I have been “different” lately, and I just play it off. Anyone who knows me well enough knows why I haven’t been myself. Although I have changed my life back to where it needs to be, I pray those that have dealt with me at my worse see the comeback I have made. And if they haven’t, they will. At the end of the day, I count my lucky stars instead of my broken heart and wounded scars. Thank God for what He has done in my life, especially lately. His plan for my life (thankfully) is greater than mine...

Quiet Hours: This time can be positive. This time can be difficult. And especially so if you are changing your life and/or going through things. But in the end, the “Quiet Hours” are building into days, years, and decades full of happiness to where you’ll look back one day and think, “This is why I had those ‘Quiet Hours’”...

“Blue Space”...Look it up. It is a real thing, especially for those needing guidance and/or dealing with anxiety/stress/depression. This photo is from a fishing tournament I was proud to be a part of this past weekend. This photo was taken 31 miles west of Tampa Bay, Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. I’m grateful to and thankful for God that He has brought my life back where it used to be from the depression I have lived since late-2012. It hasn’t been easy the last few months, but it has shifted my life to where it used to be (and then some). And now, almost 7 years to the date (5/14/2012) of moving to Florida, my passion, drive, and motivation is at an all-time high! My love for God/Jesus and others is at an all-time high, too. I hope those that helped me get back to where I need to be see this post. And I hope the one that I need to make amends with will let me do that, plus create a new start and beginning to show who I truly am. I love you, all, for not only reading this, but for you being in my life. Thank you for your love, patience, and support! ️

“Yes, I decided, a man can truly change. The events of the past year have taught me much about myself, and a few universal truths. I learned, for instance, that while wounds can be inflicted easily upon those we love, it's often much more difficult to heal them. Yet the process of healing those wounds provided the richest experience of my life, leading me to believe that while I've often overestimated what I could accomplish in a day, I had underestimated what I could do in a year. But most of all, I learned that it's possible for two people to fall in love all over again, even when there's been a lifetime of disappointment between them.” +Nicholas Sparks
