Our 🧠 secretes 40,000-60,000 thoughts a day. Can you imagine if we let EACH of those thoughts affect our mood and influence our behavior? We would be 🤪 all the time. Today’s LIVE topic was how to stop negative thoughts (watch the LIVE in my stories to learn my top 5 tips). .

One of the most helpful ways I deal with negative thoughts is to notice them like clouds floating by. The ️ float by as they do, and I remind myself that I do not have to buy into the thoughts I notice. I can choose to not pay attention to it or feed it, and can instead just let it go. These thoughts do not need to have power over me simply because they exist. .
.
The next time you notice negative thoughts floating into your awareness, simply give yourself permission to observe them as they float by. Choose not to give them attention or let them take up space in your mind. Your happiness is your choice. .
.
When we choose to opt out of negative thinking we open a door to living a life we love. One filled with more positivity, gratitude, and joy. 🥰

Do you ever have those days where you get stir crazy but don’t know what you want to do? ‍️ Today was that day. We didn’t plan anything for Easter and after the Easter baskets were devoured I spent a couple of hours organizing. But I’m a huge fan of celebrating so the day felt a bit off. .
.
Then I started thinking about how to seize the day and to feel differently about it. How to get out of the headspace that kept me weighed down  so that I could feel lighter and brighter. I stuck with one of my tried and true methods- I grabbed the camera and went outside. We hopped in the car and started driving, sans destination. We found ourselves at the beach which was a fantastic change of scenery. Watching the girls run on the beach and seeing the surfers ride the monstrous waves was just what the doctor ordered. Hehe. .

So when you feel stuck or low energy get up and LEAVE your surroundings. Get out of your house, maybe even out of your town and change up the scenery. This will shift your perspective which will in turn shift your mood.

Happy Saturday friends! How do you begin your weekend days? In the same way as weekdays or differently? I take on a more relaxed vibe on the weekend but work hard to stay consistent with my morning routine regardless of the day of the week. .

I started this rainy day with journaling + reading and then headed over to our local shake + juice bars for some healthy sustenance. Next up is some organizing and egg coloring! Remember, how we live our days translates into how happy we are. Design your days better and you will feel better. .
.
For example, I know that my days need to end with gratitude and I have to engage in something fun on the regular.  This contributes significantly to my happiness and sense of well-being. Going through the motions of a monotonous week isn’t for me, and it isn’t for you either. If you want to be happier you will have to do things differently. And it begins with your daily routines. .
.
Start with your habits, your mindset, how you talk to yourself, and if you practice gratitude, meditation, and exercise. Which of these are part of your daily routine? Are you missing any? Use this as a guide over the weekend and you will be well on your way to living a happier life.

How often is it that we focus on our failures vs our successes. We harp on the things we didn’t do and keep ourselves stuck in a self-hating rut. You can change this. You can wake up each morning and set one intention for the day. Take that one thing you’ve been putting off or haven’t started yet and write it down. Then list the mini steps you need to get it done today and execute. Make today about celebrating the success of what you DID do, not another day focused on lost opportunities. I know I know, you’re tired, you’re ‘too busy’, you don’t know where to start. Believe me, I get it. I was there too. Stuck in my comfort zone because it was, well...comfortable. And easier than putting more effort into this life that was hard enough to simply survive. But I work hard to quiet my excuses, and when I succeed at that doors open. My ‘I can’t’ becomes ‘I can’ and almost like magic when I buy into the belief ‘I can’ my behavior changes to support it. Don’t believe me? Try it. For today, quit the excuses and CHOOSE an ‘I can’ attitude. Tell me what happens with your behavior. I KNOW you can do this.

Tricky trickster that inner critic! I shared with you today (check out my stories) about how mine chimed in when I didn’t need it to (when do we ever though). I was experiencing low energy and instead of being gentle with myself my inner critic was harsh, critical, and inflexible. It was completely unhelpful. When I finally realized what was going on I interrupted said critic and worked to replace the harsh criticism with self-compassion and kindness. And it allowed me to move through my physical state with ease vs struggle. I could notice my physical state as temporary vs terrible. And was able to roll with and through it. Notice the next time your inner critic chimes in. What is it that you REALLY need in that moment? A swift kick in the booty or loving kindness? Children perform better with compassionate encouragement. Are we any different? Notice the fork in the road, and choose the path that speaks to what you need. ️

No pressure, but.... you are. We have choices in front of us every single day that can get us closer to the life we want to live. And I say this to inspire and empower you, not to overwhelm you. If you want to feel differently about your life, or want your life to actually be different, you will HAVE to make different choices. If nothing changes, nothing changes. You are that change. You are that living example of life as you want it to be. Picture her- that best version of yourself. What does she think of herself? What does she do with her days? Her mornings, her evenings, her weekends? How does she handle stress? How does she cultivate joy? What lights her up? Take 5-10 minutes today to write about her, about you. That best, highest version of yourself. Who is she and what can you do TODAY to start walking in her footsteps?

It’s Monday and I’m already missing my weekend  dinners.  Did you design a productive/balanced/grounded/content/__________ Monday for yourself? Did you know the quality of the day was largely up to you? No worries if you were stuck on autopilot, take a minute right now to grab a pen and paper and write down 3 things you’re grateful for. My list for tonight is: 1) that my garage door decided to break in the spring and not during a winter storm, 2) that I designed my day with extra self-care today, and 3) that I was able to snuggle in bed with my girls before they trailed off to sleep .
