@parrotalexx For those interested, this is a garter snake, which does have a mild venom, but it is harmless to humans due to its low potency and ineffective means of delivery. Like all other snakes, these animals play an invaluable part in their ecosystems, keeping the populations of small rodents and amphibians down while providing food for many bigger animals like birds. If you see one, just let it be; snakes don’t bite unless they’re scared and need to defend themselves. They can’t eat people, so even highly venomous species won’t attack unless provoked. I’m happy to answer questions on snakes and how you can avoid getting bit if you are in fact worried.
