Let's be honest: regular, store-bought peanut butter, jelly, and mayo are biggies when it comes to a typical diet, correct?  While many people might mistakenly try to just cut out these highly refined foods, one of my best strategies is to find a healthier replacement.⠀

Here's how to get started:⠀
⠀
Regular peanut butter contains added sugars, salt, and refined oils (which aren't necessary!).  Instead, look for peanut butter at the store that JUST CONTAINS PEANUTS or make your own with raw, unsalted peanuts and a food processor.  It'll still taste the same and you'll cut out on all that added garbage. ⠀
⠀
Store-bought jams and jellies ate LOADED with sugar and other ingredients to help prolong a shelf life.  Instead, simply mash up some fresh fruit, like raspberries or strawberries, with a fork and use it for your fruit spread.  You'll get added fiber, nutrients, and no added sugar -- but it'll be naturally sweet and delicious.⠀

Love mayo on your sandwiches?  Unfortunately, it's loaded with processed fats and other chemicals to maintain shelf life.  Instead, try replacing it with mashed avocado.  It's to-die-for delicious, and makes an amazing spread that is full of fiber and good fat. (If you don't like avocados, try hummus!).⠀

And this is just the beginning, my friends! ️ I've learned the best way to enjoy AND MAINTAIN my healthy lifestyle is to not feel like I'm giving up anything I love, but instead like I'm gaining better ways of enjoying the same craving.  That way, both my mind and my body win!⠀

Raise yo' hand if you ️ Nashville hot chicken    It's soooo good, right?  Tender, juicy chicken.  Crunchy coating.  Burning hot sauce.  The pickles!  All of it.  Definitely a fave...⠀

Yesterday, I shared some super easy sweet treat swaps for when you're craving something sweet.  Many of you mentioned how much you crave ice cream and cold frozen treats so I wanted to share this Cantaloupe Sorbet recipe which is a super easy and quick ice cream replacement that will make your life generally better ️ in all possible ways. ⠀

Note: Ya just need 4 ingredients: cantaloupe, lemon juice, raw honey (only if it's not a sweet cantaloupe, and a lil' water to loosen.   You don’t even need an ice cream maker to make it, BTW. ⠀

It rarely gets easier than this! ⠀
⠀
PS you can totally omit the raw honey if your cantaloupe is already sweet or use pure maple syrup for a #vegan / #plantbased alternative. ⠀

Back when I first started trying to lose weight and eat healthier, I would avoid sweets at all costs -- choosing to never have anything sweet because I was afraid it would set me off track.  Now, while that might work for some people, that didn't really work well for me.  I found that depriving myself of something I wanted just made me feel...deprived.  Then, when I finally gave in and ate something sweet, I couldn't stop and I'd lose control.  Avoiding it set me up for failure because I had to fight against what I wanted.  And that wasn't a healthy or positive way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. ⠀
⠀
So, instead, I found a way to satisfy my sweets craving, but in a healthier, more nutritious way that was both less harmful to my diet, but more importantly, less harmful to my body. ⠀
⠀
Chances are, you enjoy a sweet treat every now and again.  That's TOTALLY ok.  One thing I have found is to choose a healthier sweet treat option that still satisfies my sweet tooth, but doesn't send my body into a sugar frenzy followed by a sugar crash.  This has become especially true the cleaner I've eaten. ⠀
⠀
Of course, you can always just eat the damn sweet treat and be done with it.  If you do, move on, and be happy you enjoyed something that wasn't the best for you, but know that you are confident in your food choices  and you are allowed to enjoy a less-than-healthy option now and again.⠀ ⠀
